Govt 'absolutely supports' Pacific Islands travel bubble

Minister for International Development and the Pacific Alex Hawke says the government “absolutely supports the concept of a Pacific travel bubble” but Australia and New Zealand must first establish a route.

“And working out arrangements with various Pacific countries to enable the resumption of travel for tourism and other purposes,” Mr Hawke told Sky News.

“Of course Prime Minister Morrison and Prime Minister Ardern have said in their statement we have to get the trans-Tasman bubble up and running first.

“And then we are already doing the policy work to open up to Pacific countries after the success of the trans-Tasman bubble.”
