COVID-19 Pandemic | Home Affairs will allow some to travel outside SA
The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has approved essential travel for South Africans who would like to return to countries where they resided before the implementation of travel restrictions.
This decision follows consultations with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and the National Command Council.
Travel restrictions were implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19, and this approval will allow movement between countries only under special circumstances.
Conditions under which some may be allowed to travel out of South Africa, include work and study, reuniting with families, and those in need of medical attention elsewhere, amongst other reasons.
Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, joins us to discuss this.
