Coronavirus: Canada unveils new COVID-19 measures to discourage travel to sunny destinations
The Canadian government has unveiled new measures in an effort to discourage international travel as it continues to try and slow the spread of COVID-19. Starting Sunday, major Canadian airlines will halt flights to the Caribbean and Mexico, and as of Feb. 3, international flights will only be allowed to land at four airports in the country.
On Monday, people arriving in Ontario will also be required to get a COVID-19 test upon arrival and in the coming weeks the same will be required at all Canadian airports and travellers will be required to quarantine for three days at a hotel at the person’s own expense before finishing the remainder of their 14-day required quarantine at home.
David Akin provides more information on the measures, and the new fees that people could face if they still choose to travel.
