Prime Minister Boris Johnson has outlined steps for preventing a second COVID-19 peak in UK: the test and trace programme, a two-week quarantine for arrivals into the country and financial support for vaccination in developing countries.
In the daily government briefing, he said the test and trace programme will allow the government to “replace national lockdowns with individual isolation and, if necessary, local action where there are outbreaks”.
“We will explore the possibility of international travel corridors with countries that have low rates of infection,” he said, “but only when the evidence shows that it is safe to do so.”
